Toyota rolls out special Corolla for 50th anniversary

As Corolla turns 50, Toyota is giving the compact sedan a refurbish special edition to mark the milestone

The special edition receives a nipped and tucked front end, a redesigned interior and a standard back-up camera.

Besides, Toyota Nigeria Limited has rewarded a physically challenged musician, Franks Akingbemi, its customers for outstanding performing, particularly in the previous year.

All 2017 Corollas have available Toyota Safety Sense-P, which includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection function, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist function and automatic high beams.
The 50th anniversary edition package will be offered in three color options: Black Cherry, Classic Silver and Blizzard Pearl.

Planned to be on sale soon, Toyota said 8,000 anniversary edition Corollas may be sold across the world.

Toyota has also launched the Corolla 50th Anniversary campaign, which will highlight Corolla owners’ stories through a partnership with BuzzFeed and actresses Gina Rodriguez and Hannah Simone.

Corolla drivers are encouraged to share their stories with the hashtag #Corolla50.
The automaker says it has sold more than 43 million Corollas.

Akingbemi, who also referred to himself as sky was dramatically, rewarded with one million naira, after storming the stage at the award night organised by organisation, sweeping everybody off their feet including the chairman of the company, Micheal Ade-Ojo.

Without legs but an amazing dance steps and a titillating voice, Akingbemi was raised high as man, who has refused to live as a street begger but added value to the society.
Forced to announce a new award category, Ade –Ojo said: “I’m amazed by the talent God has endowed you with. People like you will be begging but you made yourself useful to the society. Because of this, Toyota Nigeria has decided to give you N1m.”

The company, which boasted it retained its top position in the automobile business in Nigeria regardless of the unstable economic situation, rewarded Lagos State Government and Nestle Nigeria Plc with one million naira and N1.5 million respective as second and first runner up, while the Department of Petroleum Resources, an arm of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, received N2 million as the winner’s price.

The event was the annual Toyota Awards/Customer Night held in Lagos where First Bank Nigeria stood tall above other customers as it was named the ‘Evergreen Customer of the Year’. This is an award for a customer that has remained consistent in the purchase of the highest number of Toyota vehicles from any accredited TNL dealer for three consecutive years.

For the journalist category, Rasheed Bisiriyu of the Punch Nigeria Limited was named the overall winner; Mike Ochonma of BusinessDay, while Theodore Opara of Vanguard newspapers received the first runner up and second runner up prizes, respectively.

Ade-Ojo, also commended dealers and journalists for their display of “professional conduct, dedication to business ethics and integrity, which had helped to position the brand as one of the best in terms of quality and after-sale service.
